Treating skin cancer surgically every day has been a challenge and very fulfilling for myself and my patients. I am the first physician in Alabama to practice Mohs' surgery for the removal of skin cancer, having trained with Dr. Fred Mohs thirty years ago. Though the technique has been refined and improved, the basic principle of a thorough and complete examination of the tissue through the microscope during surgery affords the cure rate over 98%. Over the years over fifteen dermatologists and plastic surgeons have completed the one year training fellowship in cosmetic and dermatologic surgery in our ACGME approved program.
